KG+D Architects, PC is pleased to announce the promotions of Marissa Alicea, AIA and Julie Faiber, ASID, IIDA, NCIDQ to Associates of the firm.
Marissa Alicea, AIA of Elmsford, NY, joined KG+D in 2018 after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a strong desire to make a positive impact through architecture. Embodying RPI’s motto, “Why Not Change the World?”, Marissa has approached each project with a deep commitment to designing spaces that elevate the learning experience and foster community. Over the past several years, she has contributed to a wide range of impactful educational and community-focused projects across the region.
Her portfolio includes Pelham UFSD’s new Hutchinson Elementary School, where she played a key role in bringing to life The Atrium—a dynamic learning environment that supports modern pedagogy. She contributed to the transformation of multiple Nyack Public Schools libraries into Global Learning Commons, led the design of a hands-on learning lab addition at Rippowam Cisqua School, supported the development of the Morehead Athletic Center and Centennial Field at Indian Mountain School. Marissa brings both technical expertise and creative energy to her work, with strengths in architectural drafting, detailing, and graphic communication. Her ability to synthesize function and aesthetics makes her a valued contributor and emerging leader within the firm.
Julie Faiber, ASID, IIDA, NCIDQ of Danbury, CT is a seasoned interior designer, bringing over two decades of diverse experience and creative excellence to her new leadership role. A first-generation American, Julie draws design inspiration from her Northern Italian and English heritage. Since joining KG+D, she has played a pivotal role in shaping interiors that are both elegant and functional, with a deep sensitivity to context and client vision.
Julie’s extensive background includes high-end corporate, hospitality, and luxury residential design. Today, she focuses on civic-minded spaces such as schools, libraries, and community centers—applying her refined aesthetic to environments that serve and inspire communities. At KG+D, Julie has recently contributed interior design solutions and finish selections for projects with Katonah Lewisboro School district, German international School, Croton-Harmon UFSD, Community Center of Northern Westchester, Bet Torah, Fairfield Country Day School, Darien School District, Playland Ice Casino, Clarkstown New School District, YWCA of Greenwich, and the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester. Known for her collaborative spirit and mentorship of younger designers, Julie’s passion and professionalism have made her a key contributor to the firm’s culture and client relationships. Julie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Interior Design, from Harrington College of Design. Julie enriched her academic background with a semester abroad in Italy, where she focused on Italian Industrial Design, deepening her appreciation for form, function, and innovation.
