KG+D collaborated with the Chester UFSD to reimagine their existing library, computer classroom, and adjacent general classroom spaces into a forward-thinking STEAM Center. This innovative learning environment was designed to support interdisciplinary education and 21st-century skill development.
The new STEAM Center features a variety of inteconnected zones tailored to different learning modalities, including dedicated collaboration rooms for group work, quiet and noisy production areas to accommodate both focused tasks and hands-on experimentation, and traditional library stacks integrated with informal gathering spaces that encourage exploration and spontaneous learning. A central highlight of the space is the presentation area, anchored by a learning stair that doubles as both a seating area and a visual connection to the mezzanine-level maker space above—enhancing vertical integration and promoting cross-functional learning opportunities.
