The Learning Commons was developed in the original gymnasium and is comprised of the main floor and a new mezzanine level. A “learning stair” connects the two levels providing an easy connection and creating informal “stadium-like” seating for gathering and performance. On both levels, the main spaces are flanked by two glass-fronted small group spaces that can be used for conferences, group work, or small classes.

The piano curved edge of the mezzanine enlivens this otherwise rectilinear space. The main level includes a kitchen and serving area which also allows the space to function as an auxiliary cafeteria.

Design lab developed in a former auto-shop classroom.

The Design Lab occupies a former Auto Shop. The new use is focused on supporting the High Schools’ STEAM programming allowing students to model, test and physically make products and prototypes. The large glass windows and doors provide visual and physical connection to the corridor while maximizing natural light from the adjacent interior courtyard.
